A Brief History of KeyW
Take a Tour Through Our Historic Highlights
For a company that had its start in 2008, we have grown quickly and are proud of our achievements and our mission. We provide mission-critical cyber security, geospatial, cloud, data analytics, analysis, operations and engineering solutions that support the collection, processing, analysis and dissemination of information across the Intelligence, Cyber and Counterterrorism communities. Our agile processes and methods enable us to satisfy even the most aggressive and dynamic customer requirements.
The Beginning of the Road
August 4, 2008
KeyW Corporation began operations on August 4, 2008, with over 60 employees led by the majority of the former leadership team of Essex, which was acquired by Northrop Grumman Corporation in January 2007. Since its founding, through a series of highly-selective strategic acquisitions, KeyW has assembled a single, unique platform that provides high-quality and complementary cybersecurity, geospatial, cloud, data analytics, analysis, operations and engineering solutions.
August 4, 2008
Adding to our start, we acquired Integrated Computer Concepts, Incorporated, or ICCI, and S&H Enterprises of Central Maryland, Inc., or S&H. Both companies were known for their innovations and capabilities in support of the Intelligence Community. The acquisition of ICCI brought KeyW approximately 80 employees working on key Intelligence Community programs in the areas of software engineering and cloud computing.
Expanding Our Capabilities and Customer Base
August 4, 2009
Our early acquisitions provided high-performance solutions to the Intelligence Community with systems engineering, analysis, and support capabilities. In 2009, we acquired Embedded Systems Design, Inc., or ESD, Leading Edge Design & Systems, Inc., or LEDS, and the Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance team of General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems Inc., or GDAIS team, which supports a large intelligence agency. Both Embedded Systems and LEDS provided high performance solutions to the Intelligence Community with systems engineering, analysis and support capabilities.
Broadening Our Solutions
August 4, 2010
In early 2010, KeyW invested in building our advanced Surface Mount Technology (SMT) laboratory and hired a highly-skilled workforce to immediately deploy a fully operational facility. Since that time our SMT team quickly has established a reputation for providing high-quality services in a Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) environment, fulfilling requirements that are beyond the capabilities of mass-production facilities. We also acquired The Analysis Group, LLC, and Insight Information Technology. This addition expanded KeyW’s customer base to include Air Force Intelligence and brought new long-term customer relationships and contracts. We further expanded our program management and systems engineering capabilities and our activity on a key program with our largest customer.
October 1, 2010
On October 1, 2010, the KeyW Holding Corporation completed its initial public offering (IPO) and began trading on the NASDAQ Global Market under the symbol KEYW. This was an important milestone as a publicly traded company. View the press release.

Adding to Our Mission-Critical Solutions
August 4, 2011
We acquired JKA Technologies, Inc., or JKA, and Forbes Analytic Software, Inc., or FASI. Both companies brought us a broad range of mission-critical cybersecurity solutions and support, including network engineering, information assurance and systems and software engineering.
Expanding Our Geospatial Capabilities
August 4, 2011
In 2011, we acquired Flight Landata, Inc., to strengthen our strategic investment in geospatial intelligence capabilities complementing our cyber platform. Flight Landata is a highly regarded provider of agile airborne Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) solutions and Micro Terrain Intelligence to the U.S. Defense Department and the Warfighter with significant operations in overseas theaters. Other additions to the KeyW team enhanced our solutions and support for mission-critical cyber capabilities, including network engineering, information assurance, systems engineering and integration, high-end software development and full lifecycle software support, from research and development to operations and maintenance.
